School Health Services
(An Overview)
School Nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well being, academic success, and life-long achievement of students. It is my goal to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers and other school and community professionals to remove health barriers to learning.
Health Services Include:

Administer emergency care and first aid to students and staff.

Evaluate student illness .

Providing an effective communicable disease control program, including immunization surveillance and protective measures.

Administering physician prescribed medications and special procedures in school when required.

Identifying health problems that may interfere with learning.

Assessing the unique health needs of handicapped students and providing specialized medical procedures when needed.

Organize, carry out and report on mandated health screening programs. Making appropriate referrals and follow-up on vision, hearing and scoliosis screening failures.
